Château Villemaurine Grand Cru Classé Saint-Emilion

The Estate

Passionate about wine and winemaking, and a connoisseur of fine wine thanks to his background as a négociant, Justin Onclin sought to create his family vineyard holdings and to make his very own great wine. His quest eventually took him to Château Villemaurine, where he immediately fell in love with the estate. Impressed with its enormous potential, he achieved his dream by purchasing Villemaurine in June 2007.

This jewel of a château, with seven hectares of vines in the heart of the Saint-Emilion limestone plateau, combines centuries of history and an amazingly promising terroir…

Relying on advice from a group of experts, Justin Onclin set about bringing the wine up to the very highest level almost as soon as he acquired Villemaurine.

Renovating was done with enormous attention to detail, in keeping with the prevailing philosophy of precision winemaking at Villemaurine these days. The estate's relatively small size means that all vineyard and cellar operations are tailor-made. Furthermore, state-of-the-art equipment was introduced in the new cellars and vat room.

Committed to making a wine typical of the finest terroirs in Saint-Emilion, Justin Onclin is also interested in opening his estate to wine lovers from around the world. This is why a visitor centre, tasting area, and function rooms were also created. Villemaurine features a unique sound and light tour of their mammoth underground cellars combining stories, historical narrative and scenography.

This means that above and beyond its fine wine, Château Villemaurine also offers visitors a venue imbued with a unique atmosphere and a special spirit well worth discovering...
