This guided public group tour invites you to discover the early history of Saint-Émilion and the remarkable legacy of the limestone quarries that shaped both the village and its identity. At Château Villemaurine, the story unfolds beneath your feet.
You will explore a large section of the estate’s underground quarries — an impressive historic labyrinth carved over centuries by quarrymen whose work provided the stone used to build Saint-Émilion. These galleries stand today as a powerful testimony to the region’s heritage and its deep connection to limestone.
The visit continues into the monolithic cellar, where history and atmosphere meet in one of the most unique underground spaces of Saint-Émilion, offering an immersive experience focused on culture, history and place.
The tour concludes with a guided tasting of two wines, including one Saint-Émilion Grand Cru Classé, providing an elegant introduction to the wines of Château Villemaurine.
